Chris Donovan is a stage director, actor, and educator based in New York City with over twenty years of professional experience in the theater. 

As an Actor, Chris has appeared in: The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (National Tour), Beautiful: The Carole King Musical (The Argyle Theatre), Newsies (The Argyle Theatre), Finding Neverland (White Plains Performing Arts Center), Come From Away (The Engeman Theatre), The Music Man (The Argyle Theatre), Fiddler on the Roof (The Argyle Theatre), Hairspray (White Plains Performing Arts Center), Jersey Boys (Winnipesaukee Playhouse), Mamma Mia (Plaza Theatrical), Damn Yankees (River Rep), Midnight Clear (Riverside Theater), Shakespeare in Space (Mint Theater), Cymbeline (Brick Theater), Delilah (Midtown Festival), Pride & Prejudice (Theatre for a New City), and MacBeth (Edinburgh Fringe/Judith Anderson Theatre NYC). As well as others. 

As a Director, his credits include: The Music Man at The Argyle Theatre (Asst. Director), The Complete History of America Abridged at the Hankin Performing Arts Center, Peter and the Starcatcher with Long Island University at the Post Theatre Company, Gi60 International One Minute Play Festival at The Tank NYC (Associate Producer, Director), Passage by Christopher Chen at the Hankin Performing Arts Center,  The Devils Mischief by Ed Marquand and A Stye of the Eye by Christopher Durang at Western Connecticut State University, and Sweat by Lynn Nottage at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as both the Fight Director and the role of Stan.

He served as Artistic Director for Owtava Hat Theatre Ensemble’s productions of King John at the Producers Club II and Twelfth Night at Todo 45 NYC.

Chris holds degrees in Acting, Musical Theatre, and Directing from Western Connecticut State University, Circle in the Square Theatre School, CUNY Brooklyn College, and Roosevelt University at The Chicago College of the Performing Arts. Chris is a member of SAG/AFTRA, SAFD.

He is on the theatre faculty at LIU Post & Manhattanville University.
